How to build a sales funnel

There is a ton of hype out there about funnels. What is a funnel? How do you make one? What are they used for? How do you know which one is the best one?

The funnel is a system that leads people down the sales process. For example, it can start with a pay per click ad on Facebook that offers a free e-book on how to do something.

After clicking on the ad the person is taken to a squeeze page, which is a single page or pop-up that has open spots for people to type in their name and email and sometimes their phone number. Once they enter their name and email, they are taken to a landing page where they are often times sold something with an offer that is related to what they opted in for.

The funnel can continue with a page shown to them if they do not buy in to the initial offer, or a different page if they did buy into the offer for another offer that may be a higher price (aka an upsell). The upsell or alternative offers will continue until the customer is ready to check out.

Because the webmaster has the customer's email from the web optin squeeze page, the webmaster can email them with new offers or to buy the original offer or to incentivize them with a sense of urgency by offering a limited time lower price/promotion offer.

A funnel can get leads from not only paid advertising, but social media, banner ads, ads in your blog margin, or any place that sends traffic.

So, how do you build a funnel? My preference is to use a different service for each part of the funnel, that way you can find the best service for what they do and you are not held captive by one company owning your entire sales process. What if that company goes down or raises their price?

This is why I use Aweber as my email service and lead pages to create my squeeze page. For my landing pages, I just use word press on my host which is host gator.

Aweber has a reasonable price that is lower than most competitors and great service which includes tagging, which allows me to send auto responder emails to people depending on which squeeze page sign up form they opted into. This way, I can run different ads to target different types of people and have them receive a different email series that is specific to what they are looking for. This will result in fewer opt outs.

Lead pages is cheaper than the competition and has been a industry leader in creating squeeze pages and landing pages. They have many high converting templates that you can use automatically and are easily editable without any graphic design experience or skill.

Aweber is integrated with lead pages in their forms built-in. This way, anyone that opts into your lead page form will automatically be added to your Aweber list and can be sent Aweber auto responder emails.

Lead Pages has various types of squeeze pages and landing page designs for different types of offers which can include webinars with countdowns, templates with videos, custom graphics or video backgrounds, and will allow you to customize the landing page they are taken to after they opt in.

With Lead pages, you have the option to get an affiliate account as well where you can make money referring people to use Lead pages as well.
